Micro Flying Robot Laboratory
Introduction

Micro Flying Robot Laboratory was established in October 2005. The purpose of this laboratory is to research fluid dynamics in Low Reynolds numbers, and to develop a Micro Flying Robot.

Micro Flying Robot Laboratory

The project of "Research and Development of Insect Type Micro Flying Robot" has been supported by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan under the High-Tech Research Center Promotion Program since 2005 to 2009.

The purpose of this project is to develop a Micro Air Vehicle like dragonfly, which has a high performance of maneuverability, such as hovering, forward flight, and quick turn.

This robot will be used in dangerous or hazardous area where people cannot enter. For example, It can fly inside a dangerous building damaged by earthquake, fire and flood for search and rescue. It can also fly in the polluted area, such as atomic, biological and chemical accidents for surveillance. And it can fly in the unexplored area such as deep forest, active volcano and Mars for expoloration.
